CYNTHIA SORG WAGNER, ARTIST  WYOMING WINDS STUDIO RIVERTON, WY
Riverton, Wyoming artist, Cynthia Sorg Wagner was raised in a small, rural community just south of Fort Wayne, Indiana, among thriving farms and woodlands. During her first eight years of school, she walked across the fields and down country roads to a 3-room schoolhouse, observing and enjoying the feelings, smells, and sights of nature. Her love of nature and people are evident in her paintings.
Like many artists, Cyndi began painting later in life and chose oils as her primary medium. She graduated from St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, teaching school and running a statewide program with the Indiana Bureau of Aging before turning to painting full time. Cyndi retired in 2000 and moved west to live with her mother in Riverton, Wyoming where she has her Wyoming Winds Art Studio.
Well-known and successful Indianapolis artist Ruth Pritchard has been Cyndi's mentor and teacher since 1980, teaching her oil painting until 2000. Among the numerous workshops and classes Cyndi has attended, she is proud to have studied with Daniel Greene. Currently she studies with Jerry Antolik of Hudson, Wyoming. Cyndi has attended the prestiguous Susan K. Black Foundation Workshops in Dubois, Wyoming in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, studying with such renowned artists as John Seerey-Lester, John Banovich, Greg Beechum, and Lee Cable.
Cyndi is proficient in many areas of painting and finds portraiture of people and animals to be her favorite. Her paintings are traditional yet painterly in subject and execution, focusing on bright, realistic colors.
RECENT AWARDS
Cyndi has won numerous awards over the years, including several Best of Show, First Place and other awards and is represented in private collections nationwide.
